Fa il giro del mondo e diventa oggetto di un post su Instagram di DiCaprio, attore fortemente impegnato per l’ambiente, la notizia dell’intenzione di piantare 3 MILIONI di nuovi alberi nel capoluogo lombardo entro il 2030.

La quantità di alberi programmata consentirà di assorbire 5 MILIONI di TONNELLATE in più di diossido di carbonio all’anno, pari a 4/5 di quello prodotto dalla città, e di ridurre di 3.000 tonnellate di particolato PM10 (causa di malattie a bronchi e polmoni e possibile fattore di rischio di insorgenza tumori) in una decina di anni, con l’intenzione di ridurre di 2 gradi Celsius le temperature in città.
Damiano Di Simine, coordinatore scientifico di Legambiente Lombardia, afferma che potenzialmente il più grande impatto del progetto milanese sarà di diminuire le temperature metropolitane che risultano al momento di 6 gradi Celsius più alte rispetto alle zone circostanti nelle ore notturne.
Una rete ferroviaria per il trasporto merci dismessa sarà trasformata in 7 parchi con 25.000 nuovi alberi piantati ogni anno. Il piano include inoltre nuovi alberi collocati in 10 milioni di metri quadri su tetti e 2.300 alberi in cortili delle scuole.

It has traveled around the world and become the subject of an Instagram post by DiCaprio, an actor strongly committed to the environment, the news of the intention to plant 3 million new trees in the Lombard capital by 2030.
The planned quantity of trees will absorb an additional 5 MILLION TONS of carbon dioxide per year, equal to 4/5 of the total produced by the city, and will reduce in a decade 3,000 tons of PM10 particulates (a cause of bronchial and lung diseases and a potential risk factor of tumors), with the intention of decreasing the city temperatures by 2 degrees Celsius.
Damiano Di Simine, the scientific coordinator in Lombardy for the environmental group Legambiente, said potentially the biggest impact of the green Milan project will be to lower temperatures in a city where the nighttime temperature can be 6 degrees Celsius (10.8 degrees Fahrenheit) higher than in the surrounding area.
A disused freight railway network will be transformed into a series of seven parks, with 25,000 new trees every year. The plan also includes planting new trees in  10 million square meters (108 million sq. feet) of flat rooftops and 2,300 in school courtyards.
