Quando/Cosa è meglio autoprodurre e quando/cosa scegliere tra i prodotti già pronti ecologici?

Ci sono persone bravissime che si autoproducono praticamente tutto… c’è bisogno di tempo, voglia e ricerca delle materie prime. 

Per adesso il mio blog e la mia esperienza puntano soprattutto sulla semplicità ed economicità. Farsi i detergenti da sè non solo diminuisce l’inquinamento (dovuto alla composizione chimica dello stesso) e si buttano molti meno flaconi (dato che si riutilizzano sempre gli stessi). Ma non fa acquistare anche un sacco di prodotti inutili, perché si conosce finalmente quello che serve davvero per pulire, quindi si risparmia anche!

Però ci vogliono alcuni compromessi. Mi spiego: creare il detersivo per i piatti (la base di quasi tutte le mie ricette) si può, ma significa reperire tre diversi tensioattivi, materie prime che non si trovano al supermercato e a volte sono costose… se voglio far avvicinare più persone possibili alla detergenza ecologica e scientifica devo rendere le cose semplici e accessibili a tutti. Quindi io consiglio di acquistare un buon detersivo piatti ecologico o almeno a marchio Ecolabel, che si trova in tutte le catene di supermercati. È un compromesso, ma almeno è un inizio. Con il detersivo piatti posso poi autoprodurre tutti questi detergenti:  il detersivo lavatrice (polvere e liquido), il detergente per il bagno, il detersivo pavimenti, la candeggina delicata, lo sgrassatore (cenerino e non), il detergente sbiancante ed igienizzante. Ovviamente con l’aggiunta di altri ingredienti che trovo facilmente in commercio (sapone tipo marsiglia, soda solvay, percarbonato, ecc.). 

Altri prodotti che vale la pena di autoprodursi sono lo scioglicalcare, l’ammorbidente, il brillantante e il balsamo, tutti solo con un ingrediente: l’acido citrico. 

Rispetto a solo 10 anni fa, adesso si trovano nei supermercati prodotti davvero ecologici (non ecofurbate) con efficienza e prezzi assolutamente paragonabili a quelli comuni o super pubblicizzati. Anzi a volte costano meno e sono più performanti! Un vero successo. Quindi l’importante è avere attenzione per l’ambiente… poi ognuno in base alle proprie attitudini, possibilità economiche e tempo, decide ovviamente se comprare il prodotto pronto o farselo da sé.

La ricetta di un detersivo ecologico autoprodotto che funzioni?

A costo di passare per superba ed arrogante posso affermare con certezza che TUTTE le ricette del fai da te di Mammachimica funzionano! Per un motivo molto semplice: contengono gli ingredienti che scientificamente funzionano e servono al lavaggio. Sono frutto delle idee geniali di molti utenti del forum di Fabrizio Zago, che da anni condivide i suoi consigli ecologici sulla detergenza e la cosmesi e che io, nel tempo, ho raccolto, spiegato e sperimentato. Insomma, non due ingredienti buttati lì a caso solo per avere più like su facebook o più visualizzazioni del sito. Hai qualche suggerimento da darci per un bucato perfetto?

Quali sono gli errori più comuni nell’autoproduzione dei detersivi e ammorbidenti che riscontri quando i tuoi lettori ti scrivono con domande?

Di solito non ci sono problemi particolari. I detergenti fai da te sono davvero semplicissimi, basta solo un po’ di pazienza. 

Forse l’errore più comune è che molti non preparano il detergente in un contenitore (una brocca per esempio) ma lo fanno direttamente nel flacone. Così facendo potrebbe non sciogliersi bene la soda solvay e quindi creare grumi duri. Oppure, agitando vigorosamente tutto assieme nel flacone, possono avere eccessi di schiuma.

When / What is better to self-produce and when / what to choose from ready-made ecological products?

There are very good people who produce almost everything… we need time, desire and the search for raw materials.

For now my blog and my experience focus mainly on simplicity and cheapness. Making detergents on our own not only reduces pollution (due to their chemical composition) and we throw away far fewer bottles (since they are always reused the same). But we don’t even buy a lot of useless products, because we finally know what you really need to clean, so we save too!

But some compromises are needed. Let me explain: creating dish detergent (the basis of almost all my recipes) is possible, but it means finding three different surfactants, raw materials that are not found in the supermarket and sometimes they are expensive… If I want to bring as many people as possible closer to ecological and scientific detergency, I have to make things simple and accessible to all. So I recommend buying a good eco-friendly dish detergent or at least with an Ecolabel, which is found in all supermarket chains. It’s a compromise, but at least it’s a start. With the dish detergent I can then self-produce all these detergents: the washing machine detergent (powder and liquid), the bath detergent, the floor detergent, the delicate bleach, the degreaser (with ash or not), the bleaching and sanitizing detergent. Obviously with the addition of other ingredients that I find easily on the market (Marseille-like soap, soda solvay, percarbonate, etc.).

Other products that are worth self-producing are the decalcifier, the softener, the rinse aid and the conditioner, all with just one ingredient: citric acid.

Compared to only 10 years ago, now there are really eco-friendly products in the supermarkets (not “eco-cunning tricks”) with efficiency and prices absolutely comparable to the common or super-advertised ones. In fact sometimes they cost less and are more efficient! A real success. So the important thing is to pay attention to the environment… then each one according to his own aptitudes, economic possibilities and time, obviously decides whether to buy the product ready or have it made by himself.

The recipe for a self-produced ecological detergent that works?

Risking of passing for superb and arrogant, I can say with certainty that ALL of Mammachimica’s DIY recipes work! For a very simple reason: they contain the ingredients that scientifically work and are used for washing. They are the result of the brilliant ideas of many users of the forum of Fabrizio Zago, who for years has shared his ecological advice on detergency and cosmetics and that, over time, I have collected, explained and experimented. In short, not two ingredients thrown there randomly just to get more likes on facebook or more site views. What are the most common mistakes in self-production of detergents and softeners that you find when your readers write you questions?

There are usually no particular problems. DIY cleaners are really simple, just a little patience is required.

Perhaps the most common mistake is that many people do not prepare the detergent in a container (a jug for example) but they make it directly in a bottle. Doing so, the solvato soda may not dissolve well and therefore create hard lumps. Or, by shaking vigorously all together in the bottle, they may create excess foam.
